Türkiye’s ambassador to China, Selçuk Ünal, highlighted the deep-rooted history of interaction between the two civilizations, dating back to the Silk Road era, which facilitated trade, cultural exchanges, and diplomatic engagements between these nations.
Since the formal establishment of diplomatic relations in 1971, the partnership between Türkiye and China has witnessed remarkable growth. Currently, China stands as Türkiye’s largest trading partner, with bilateral trade surpassing $50 billion annually. This robust trade relationship is complemented by strengthened connectivity, with a rise in passenger and cargo flights linking major cities in both countries, thus enhancing people-to-people and business interactions.
Furthermore, Türkiye has expanded its diplomatic footprint in China by establishing multiple consulates, reflecting its commitment to fostering economic engagement. Both countries are actively working to boost cooperation in crucial sectors including artificial intelligence, green energy, infrastructure, and commerce. Ambassador Ünal emphasized that Ankara and Beijing share similar perspectives on numerous international and regional issues, prioritizing peace, stability, development, and conflict prevention.
