Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan have underscored their determination to bolster bilateral relations by enhancing collaboration in several key areas such as trade, investment, transportation, and regional connectivity. This commitment emerged from the seventh meeting of the Türkiye-Kyrgyzstan Joint Strategic Planning Group held in Ankara, which was co-chaired by the foreign ministers of both nations.
The discussions provided an opportunity to review the current state of bilateral relations and explore avenues for deeper cooperation in education, cultural exchanges, and economic development. Both sides also laid the groundwork for upcoming reciprocal visits by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, emphasizing the importance of these engagements in furthering diplomatic ties.
A major focus of the meeting was economic collaboration, with Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan pledging to support new investment ventures and initiatives that would create conducive environments for business activities. In addition to economic endeavors, the two countries agreed on enhancing travel, employment, and educational opportunities to fortify connections between their peoples.
The strategic significance of regional connectivity was a prominent theme during the talks. Kyrgyzstan drew attention to the Middle Corridor, a transport route of strategic importance, and expressed its aim to connect the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway with this corridor. This linkage is anticipated to boost access to European and Middle Eastern markets through Türkiye, thereby enhancing trade prospects.
On the global stage, the ministers addressed security challenges and reiterated their shared commitment to resolving conflicts through dialogue, diplomacy, and adherence to international law. Kyrgyzstan acknowledged Türkiye’s contributions to regional mediation efforts and expressed gratitude for Ankara’s support in securing a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term. In its upcoming role, Kyrgyzstan intends to advocate for dialogue among nations and represent the interests of landlocked developing countries, mountainous nations, and small island states.
